Description
1884 $1 MS64 PCGS. VAM-4. A Top 100 Variety. Small Dot. Ex: Leroy Van Allen. There are small die dots just to the right of the engraver's initial "M" on the lower edge of Liberty's bust, and on the lower reverse wreath bow. Lovely red-brown, gold, and cobalt-blue peripheral toning adorns each side of this sparkling, intensely lustrous near-Gem. Well struck with shallow scrapes on Liberty's jaw, and in the left obverse and upper reverse fields that limit the grade. From The Leroy Van Allen Collection.
