Struck on an Experimental Planchet
1999-P 25C Pennsylvania Quarter--Struck on Experimental
Planchet--MS67 PCGS. Various "golden" alloys were tested on a
few 1999-dated Statehood quarters. The exact metallic content of
each would need to be metallurgically tested, but it would make an
interesting study if a collector could gather enough pieces
together and then pursue testing. This is a bright "golden" coin
that shows noticeable metal flow around the margins, indicating
this experimental alloy was not tested at the beginning of the
production run for Pennsylvania quarters.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 62401)
