1849 $5 AU53 NGC. Doubled 849. Breen-6582. Listed as "extremely rare" in the Breen Encyclopedia, the date is dramatically repunched and is evident to the unaided eye. However, many of the '49 fives we see have this feature and we feel this is only a slightly scarcer variety. Well struck with some luster remaining in the crevices.(Registry values: P6)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TV, PCGS# 8240, GSID# 8895)
