Description

1855-C $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. AU50 Details. Variety 23-J. A thickly hairlined and glossy lemon-tinged Half Eagle. The strike is above average for the Charlotte Mint, but the hair above the coronet and the eagle's fletchings show some striking indifference. Despite a mintage of close to 40,000 pieces, just one die pair is currently known for the '55-C.
