Late State 1652 Noe-1 Pine Tree Shilling, VF20
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet VF20 PCGS. Crosby 12-I, Noe-1, R.2. A later state of the reverse die, a horn-shaped break connects the 16 in the date. This crisp dove-gray example has an edge flaw at 11 o'clock and a small straight clip at 7 o'clock. Most Noe-1 pieces exhibit more than one clip; the design is nearly intact. A couple of wispy vertical pinscratches bookend the tree, the flan has a slight wave near the denomination, and a couple of letters on the peripheral legend on each side are lightly impressed by the dies.
