Description

Elusive 1909-S Lincoln Cent MS67 Red

1909-S 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Bright reddish-golden hues dominate the surfaces of this incredible first year Lincoln, each side being aglow with rich, satiny luster. Close examination yields a few well scattered, microscopic carbon flecks and a short paper-thin blemish above the Y in LIBERTY, the only appreciable difference between the coin now and when it left the dies. Only the most devoted specialist in the popular series of Lincoln Cents knows that even its widely known counterpart with designer's initials on the reverse is not as not as elusive as the 1909-S Lincoln in Superb Red condition. A similarly graded example pursued by advanced Registry Set collectors realized $69,000 in our August 2004 Pittsburgh Sale. Population: 4 in 67, 0 finer (11/04). (#2434) (Registry values: N1793)
