Description

Desirable MCMVII High Relief Twenty
Wire Rim, MS64

1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS64 PCGS. A first-year-of-issue coin, a one-year type, and arguably the most beautiful coin ever minted for circulation, the Saint-Gaudens 1907 High Relief double eagle is on every collector's list of dream coins. From a tiny mintage of 12,367 pieces, the High Relief is surprisingly available today. Collectors prized this issue from the first day of release, and a large number of specimens were saved in Mint State for future generations to enjoy. Intense competition is always the rule when a High Relief is offered, and we expect no less when this attractive example comes up for bidding.
The present coin is fully struck, with rich, satiny mint luster. The attractive reddish patina often seen on High Reliefs is especially pronounced on this example, particularly around the devices. One obverse mark above the date, near the rim, limits the grade.(Registry values: N7079)
