Description

Rare Key Date 1909-O Indian Half Eagle MS62 PCGS

1909-O $5 MS62 PCGS. The 1909-0 is the premier rarity of the Indian half eagle series. It has the lowest mintage in the series with only 34,200 pieces struck, and is extremely rare in Mint State. Other than the 1907 experimental issues and a few commemoratives, this mintage is the sixth lowest of any 20th century gold coinage issue through 1933. This coin has fulsome mint luster with slight contact marks (a couple of them in the obverse fields), and a very strong strike with a well defined mintmark. The 1909-O is one of the major rarities in 20th century gold, and an example this nice does not come along very often. Population: 20 in 62, 29 finer (11/05).(Registry values: N7079)
