Description

Magnificent MS66 1865 Quarter

1865 25C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Briggs 1-A. The date exhibits minor repunching, and QUAR DOL displays minute die doubling. This fully struck and lustrous Premium Gem displays original cobalt-blue and golden-russet toning that is more prominent on the obverse. Remarkably devoid of abrasions. An exceptional example from the concluding year of the Civil War, and an important opportunity for the Seated specialist. Because of Gresham's Law and abundant fractional currency, a mere 58,800 pieces were struck. Encapsulated in an old green label holder. Population: 1 in 66, 1 finer (5/10).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23U2, PCGS# 5461, Greysheet# 5136)
