Second Finest 1794 S-55, B-47 Cent, MS63 Brown

1794 1C Head of 1794 MS63 Brown PCGS. S-55, B-47, R.2. Breen Die State II, with minor lapping evident among the lower hair curls. Some small planchet marks on each side point to the provenance from the Naftzger and Brown Collections. Del Bland grades this coin AU55, and calls it second finest known, while Bill Noyes grades it XF45 and calls it fourth finest known. In addition to the planchet marks mentioned above, both sides have numerous other minuscule planchet marks that were not struck out. Attractive mahogany surfaces have hints of lilac and blue toning.
