Stunning 1895 Cent, PR67 Red

1895 1C PR67 Red PCGS. Per Rick Snow's Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents, three of the five known 1895 proof cent dies display varying degrees of repunched dates. On the current offering, the 1 and the 9 in the date are boldly repunched. While such die anomalies are known to the issue, it certainly adds to the charm of this already magnificent specimen. Meticulously preserved, reflective fields shimmer around well defined design elements and, when viewed at a certain angle, the surfaces erupt as a powerful burst of orange-red coloration. As of (11/08), PCGS has certified only four 1895 cents at the PR67 level--regardless of surface designation--with none finer.(Registry values: N2998)
