Description

1909-S VDB Cent, MS66 Red

1909-S VDB 1C MS66 Red NGC. The smooth, golden-orange surfaces of this lovely Premium Gem are free of all but the most minute contact evidence. Lincoln's coat and bow tie are well struck, and there is complete separation of the shirt and coat all the way to the back of Lincoln's neck, one of the marks of a well-struck example of this key date. The reverse similarly offers no visible softness on any of the devices, and all three periods show in the designer's initials. A tiny scrape appears under a loupe above the O in ONE, mentioned for accuracy but undistracting. Census: 41 in 66 Red, 1 finer (11/08).
