1922-D 1C MS66 Red PCGS. Since 1793 the Philadelphia Mint has produced a one cent piece in 214 different years missing only 1815 and 1922. In 1815, coinage production was limited to quarters, half dollars, and half eagles. In 1922, coinage in Philadelphia was limited to silver dollars, double eagles, and Grant commemorative half dollars and gold dollars. Meanwhile in Denver only cents and silver dollars were minted. This green-label PCGS Premium Gem is an excellent representative of the Denver cent coined that year, with highly lustrous and brilliant orange fields that framed the pinkish devices.
