Description
Rare Choice VF 1804 Dime
13 Reverse Stars, JR-1
1804 10C 13 Stars on Reverse VF35 PCGS. CAC. JR-1, R.5. What
a difference a year makes. Two die varieties each are known for the
1804 and 1805. However, the 1805 is plentiful, at least by the
standards of Heraldic Eagle dimes, as suggested by its recorded
mintage is 120,780 pieces. Compare that figure with the 1804
production of 8,265 pieces, and the rarity of the 1804 is obvious.
In fact, the two 1804 varieties, JR-1 and JR-2, are both listed as
R.5, the same rarity factor as the famous 1802 half dime. JR-1 and
JR-2 each receive a separate Guide Book listing due to
different reverse star counts. This gunmetal-gray and chestnut-tan
representative has pleasing hair definition and lacks any
singularly mentionable marks. Population: 2 in 35, 6 finer
(12/08).(Registry values: P8)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 236M, PCGS# 4474, GSID# 3966)
