Description

AU55 Details 1796 Dime, JR-2

1796 10C --Repaired, Tooled, Cleaned--ANACS. AU55 Details. JR-2, R.4. This is a well defined example that would deceive many advanced collectors. Medium tan-gold and steel-blue toning conceals subtle hairlines, perhaps from a mechanical brushing. The fields are suspiciously unabraded, but the only noticeable repair is on the obverse rim at 10 o'clock. The eye appeal is nonetheless substantial. Struck from multiply clashed dies.(Registry values: P7)
