Description
Sharp 1928-D Quarter
MS66 Full Head
1928-D 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. CAC. A 1928-D quarter is not
easy to locate with a Full Head. In his treatise on Standing
Liberty Quarters, J.H. Cline contends that one percent or less
of this issue is struck with a Full Head, and says: "In Full Head,
the MS65 or better is a much sought-after coin and not readily
available." The population data bear out Cline's contention about
the availability of Full Head Gem and finer pieces: PCGS and NGC
have certified a little more that 40 MS65s, fewer than 30 MS66s,
and a mere three MS67 Full Head coins.A solid strike on this Premium Gem transcends Liberty's Full Head to include crisp definition in the chain mail, the vertical stripes of the inner shield, and a considerable amount of the eagle's plumage. The surfaces possess strong luster, and display whispers of barely discernible sky-blue and golden-tan color. A few minuscule obverse marks are well within the parameters of the grade classification. Population: 16 in 66 Full Head, 2 finer (10/08).
