Description

Sharp 1928-D Quarter
MS66 Full Head

1928-D 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. CAC. A 1928-D quarter is not easy to locate with a Full Head. In his treatise on Standing Liberty Quarters, J.H. Cline contends that one percent or less of this issue is struck with a Full Head, and says: "In Full Head, the MS65 or better is a much sought-after coin and not readily available." The population data bear out Cline's contention about the availability of Full Head Gem and finer pieces: PCGS and NGC have certified a little more that 40 MS65s, fewer than 30 MS66s, and a mere three MS67 Full Head coins.
A solid strike on this Premium Gem transcends Liberty's Full Head to include crisp definition in the chain mail, the vertical stripes of the inner shield, and a considerable amount of the eagle's plumage. The surfaces possess strong luster, and display whispers of barely discernible sky-blue and golden-tan color. A few minuscule obverse marks are well within the parameters of the grade classification. Population: 16 in 66 Full Head, 2 finer (10/08).
