Description

High Grade 1795 13 Leaves Eagle

1795 $10 13 Leaves AU53 PCGS. Breen-6830, B. 4-B, Taraszka-5, R.5. This is an easy variety to attribute in as much as the reverse displays a sizeable rust lump at the margin between the F in OF and the first A in AMERICA. This reverse is the same as that used to strike the Taraszka-4 example. The obverse die is different, and it is readily identifiable by the fact that the 5 in the date overlays Liberty's bust. This is a yellow-gold example with modest remnants of a semi-prooflike finish. Certain angles also reveal rich reddish-gold undertones. The number of small and moderate abrasions is consistent with an early eagle that saw seven points of wear, and the focal devices retain bold overall definition. Although many 1795 eagles were saved as the first of their kind, the rarity of this issue relative to the number of advanced gold specialists in today's hobby ensures continued demand for problem-free circulated survivors.(Registry values: P5)
