Description
Desirable BD-1 1818 Five, MS61
1818 $5 MS61 NGC. Breen-6471, BD-1, R.5. The so-called "Normal" dies, without STATESOF or 5D/50 error on reverse. Die State c, with obverse clashed and reverse lapped with several die cracks. Impressively lustrous for this rare die pair with strong detail and warm yellow-gold and peach colors. Minor luster grazes and a few more substantial abrasions visit the fields on each side, yet the overall visual appeal remains powerful. A noteworthy and shining exemplar that should find a place in a similarly graded cabinet of die varieties. Census: 2 in 61, 16 finer (11/08).From The Martin L. Diffenbaucher, Jr. Collection.(Registry values: P3)
