Description

Conditionally Rare XF 1793 Wreath Cent
Sheldon-6, Vine and Bars Edge

1793 1C Wreath, Vine and Bars, S-6, B-7, R.3, XF40 PCGS. CAC. This Sprung Die Wreath cent has pleasing medium brown toning with slightly deeper lilac patina on the devices. Most 1793 cents are well-worn, but the present piece has pleasing definition, despite the expected moderate wear on the hair and bow. A few small field marks are scattered, along with the occasional minor edge nick. The only die marriage for the obverse, while the reverse was paired with three other dies, including the unique NC-5. The Sprung Die nickname is due to the characteristic mint-made bulge on the obverse field near 9 o'clock. EAC 25. Encapsulated in a green label holder.
