Interesting 1972-S Dollar - Double Struck in Collar, MS67 PCGS

1972-S $1 Silver Eisenhower Dollar--Double Struck in Collar, Close Overlap--MS67 PCGS. Double struck in the collar, no rotation took place between the blows from the die. The bust truncation shows good separation, with two sets of engraver's initials, and the back of the bust is also widely doubled. The best evidence of the double strike, however, is the separation of the tops of the letters LIBE in LIBERTY, and a nearby second rim. ONE DOLLAR exhibits wide strike doubling, although the effect is less dramatic than on the obverse. Lustrous and brilliant, the fields are immaculate and the cheek displays only the faintest contact. A small planchet flake is beneath the L in LIBERTY.
