Description
Sharp 1859 Dollar, PR63 Cameo
1859 $1 PR63 Cameo PCGS. 1859 was the first year during which proof Seated dollars were publicly offered, although proofs are known of all P-mint issues in the series. Despite a comparatively generous mintage of 800 pieces, proofs with any sort of cameo contrast are scarce and bring a nice premium over their uncontrasted counterparts. This is a sharply struck proof, with light splashes of burgundy color over mirrored fields, tending toward indigo at the rims, and a degree of contrast more pronounced on the reverse. The few marks noted on the surfaces are trivial and do not affect the eye appeal in the slightest. From The Findley Collection.(Registry values: N2998)
