Description

Glossy Brown 1855 Flying Eagle Cent Pattern
Judd-168, PR55

1855 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-168, Pollock-193, R.4, PR55 PCGS. CAC (Gold Sticker). Called AU55 on the holder, but all were struck as proofs. About midway in diameter between the large and small cents, this pattern is also transitional in that it pairs a Flying Eagle obverse and a reverse similar in design to the large cent. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. The surfaces are glossy with intermingled mahogany and chestnut hues. Slight evidence of die clashing is evident in the fields on each side. A high-quality example as reinforced by the rarely seen gold CAC sticker.
