Description
Sharp 1894 Dollar
MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike
Finest of Three Certified Specimens
1894 $1 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. The PCGS insert is
labeled "Wayne Miller Plate Coin." The 1894 Morgan dollar has the
lowest business strike mintage (110,000 pieces) of any Philadelphia
issue, except 1895. Prooflike coins are very rare. PCGS and NGC
have graded only 16 "regular" Prooflikes, some of which are likely
resubmissions, and the former service has certified just three as
Deep Mirror Prooflike, of which the near-Gem offered here is the
finest. NGC has certified no DMPLs.A veneer of light champagne-tan color covers both sides, each of which projects pleasing field-device contrast. An exacting strike leaves strong definition on the design elements, including sharp detail in the hair over Liberty's ear and on the eagle's breast feathers. A few trivial handling marks barely preclude Gem classification.
