Description

Lovely, Semi-Prooflike 1776 Continental Dollar in Mint State, Popular CURENCY Spelling

1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURENCY, Pewter MS62 NGC. Newman 1-C. This variety is the most likely to come with highly reflective surfaces, and this specimen shows a mix of gray pewter with shiny highlights. The overall effect is stunning. Whether one is assembling a Continental Dollar variety set or just looking for a single Colonial, this would be a highlight of any collection. This variety has only one R in CURENCY. This specimen is from the later die state of the obverse showing a die break along the top of UG in FUGIO. Listed on page 33 of the 2003 Guide Book.
