Description

Singular 1903-S Dollar, MS67

1903-S $1 MS67 NGC. The 1903-S is a popular issue, due in part to the superior eye appeal most examples exhibit. Swirling mint frost races around each side, and on this particular piece it is especially pronounced. Unfortunately, as popular as this issue may be with collectors, there are precious few specimens available in the better Mint State grades. And in MS67, we have only handled one other piece, the former Eliasberg coin that was purchased directly from the Mint in the year of issue.
This is an absolutely breathtaking coin. The coruscant mint luster is unaffected by the abrasions that usually afflict Mint State examples. Brilliant throughout and well struck. When we offered this piece seven years ago, it was the only NGC MS67 certified, and today that remains unchanged. Census: 1 in 67, 0 finer (10/08).
