Description
Uncirculated Noe-10 Reversed N Pine Tree Shilling
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet MS62 NGC. Noe-10, Crosby 1a-C, R.3. 70.2 grains. The No Pellets, Reversed N variety. The final die state from the dies of Noe 4-6 and 9-10. All of these Noe varieties are from the same physical pair of dies in various stages of re-engraving. These dies are also linked to Noe-7, which is from this reverse die, and Noe-8 from this obverse die. The upper obverse letters are very thick, and the roots of the tree are now prominent. A smooth bluish-gray example with attractive mint gloss, centered well enough that all legends are fully on the flan. Small mint-made flan cracks are at 11:30 and 6 o'clock. Wavy across the center, as produced from a rocker press. Uncirculated Pine Tree Shillings are rare and extremely desirable. Listed on page 37 of the 2006 Guide Book.(#23)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 23, GSID# 9)
