1776 CURENCY Spelling Continental Dollar, MS62

1776 $1 Continental Dollar MS62 PCGS. CURENCY. Pewter. Breen-1089; Crosby Pl. VIII, 15; Newman 1-C. Like the CURRENCY spelling following, this piece is also struck in tin, rather than pewter as commonly believed. Misspelled as CURENCY, this is a very popular variant of the Continental Dollar among Colonial enthusiasts. This is a particularly choice example whose only flaw is slightly darker surfaces. The surfaces are particularly clean and sharply struck throughout, with the only flaw being a bit of planchet flaking in the area of the Connecticut ring on the reverse. One of the finer examples of this historic Colonial issue. Listed on page 33 of the 2001 Guide Book.
