Description

Finest Certified 1852-O Quarter MS63

1852-O 25C MS63 PCGS. The mintage of only 96,000 pieces suggests the 1852-O is scarce. But it is likely that much of the emission was melted shortly after production, since the bullion value exceeded face. Although collectors managed to set aside a few 1852 Philadelphia quarters, the 1852-O is extremely rare in Mint State. In fact, the present lot is the only example certified above the AU55 grade by PCGS. Lustrous, unabraded, and nearly untoned aside from a couple of minor milk spots on each side. An uneven die alignment causes a typical strike on the head and fletchings. Population: 1 in 63, 0 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P7)
