Description

Stunning PR66 Cameo 1906 Quarter Eagle

1906 $2 1/2 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The pretty surfaces of this Premium Gem proof are a lovely, deep copper-orange, with a trace of lilac at the obverse rim. The nicely frosted devices contrast starkly against the pristine fields. The date is high and close to the "device," as Breen's proof reference calls it, with the 1 almost touching the bust. Although Breen records no die markers for the reverse die, this piece shows some light die roughness around several of the letters in STATES, as made, this visible under a strong loupe and in no way detracting from the stunning eye appeal. Population: 10 in 66 Cameo, 2 finer (7/06).(Registry values: P1)
