Description

1880 Flowing Hair Stella, Judd-1659, Pollock-1859, R.7, PR 64 NGC. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. This is a lovely, multi-hued example of this perennial favorite, collector coin. Struck to facilitate international trade, the copper and aluminum variants of the stella are presentable and more affordable examples of the standard gold four-dollar issue. Very lightly hairlined, the surfaces have taken on a subtle iridescence that is most attractive, and the coin is free from any mentionable abrasions.
