Description
Splendid, Full Red 1868 Cent--Tied For Finest Certified
1868 MS 66 Red NGC. An absolutely splendid and completely original example of this conditionally scarce, early Indian cent. The surfaces are a bright reddish-orange and show only the most trivial (virtually undetectable) flecks of carbon on the obverse. There is just a bit of striking softness on the uppermost feathers of the Indian's headdress, and the surfaces are virtually free from post-striking impairments. This is the only piece to have been so graded by NGC (2/98) with none finer, and it is tied with one other MS 66 certified by PCGS.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 227S, PCGS# 2093, GSID# 1313)
