Important 1799 S-189 Cent, VF25
1799 1C VF25 PCGS. S-189, B-3, R.2. This pleasing piece has excellent detail and attractive color, incorporating tan, olive, and dark brown on both sides. There is faint surface roughness that is only visible with a glass, and obviously was of no concern to PCGS. A few other blemishes are noted, but all of the imperfections are consistent with a middle grade circulated large cent of the late 1790s. Of course, specialists and novice collectors alike understand the importance of this key date issue. It is one of the big three large cent dates along with 1793 and 1804.
