Description
Uncirculated 1918/7-S Overdate Quarter
1918/7-S 25C MS61 ANACS. High grade overdate Quarters are among the rarest coins of the 20th century for two reasons. First, they were struck from a single pair of dies, thus drastically limiting their availability in terms of absolute numbers available. Second, the overdate feature was not discovered until 1937 and the available Mint State pieces known today are by accident, and not design. This is a nearly mark-free specimen that shows a little mushiness on the shield and the eagle's breast, but its lack of wear makes the underdigit plainly visible to the unaided eye. Both sides are lightly overlaid with some golden-gray patina, sparkling luster is just under the color. About half of the head detail shows on the obverse. From The Stig Ericsson Collection.(#5726) (Registry values: N4719)
