Description

1804 25C Fair 2 NGC. B-2, High R.6. Well worn in the center of the obverse, leaving the date, six of the peripheral stars, and ERT of LIBERTY as the only clear obverse devices. The upper reverse details are better, and include STATES OF, the eagle's head and parts of the shield, and the clouds and stars above the eagle's head. Of the two known varieties of this rare issue, the Browning 2 is easily the scarcer, being ranked as a High R.6., while Browning 1, although certainly scarce in its own right, is "only" a High R.3., by comparison.(#5312) (Registry values: P7)
