Description

Select Uncirculated 1799 Ten Dollar

1799 MS 63 NGC. Small Stars. Irregular Date. B. 4-E. One of the two "Irregular Date" varieties of the year, this one with a longer stem pointing toward the border on the reverse. Eagles from this year are the most frequently encountered of the type, yet any early ten in mint state must be reckoned as a condition rarity. As often seen, the fields have a satiny quality. The surfaces show the usual green-gold color with virtually none of the copper-red color often seen. Sharply struck throughout, there are few abrasions, the only one worthy of individual mention is located on the shield on the reverse. A highly desirable early ten.
