Splendid 1884-S Morgan Dollar, MS63
1884-S $1 MS63 NGC. Ex: Richmond Collection. The 1884-S is one of the great condition rarities in the Morgan dollar series, usually only available in circulated grades, or occasionally the lowest Mint State levels. In grades above MS62, it is a prime rarity. This remarkable example has frosty silver luster and exceptional eye appeal. Both sides are brilliant with light peripheral gold toning on the obverse. NGC has only certified 40 pieces at the MS63 grade level, with 16 more in finer numerical grades, including 13 MS64's, two MS65's, and one MS66.Ex: Richmond Collection, Part II (David Lawrence Rare Coins, 11/2004), lot 1602.(Registry values: P9, N7079)
