Underrated 1883/2 Shield Nickel Variety, MS63
1883/2 5C MS63 NGC. FS-013.1. The underdigit 2 is plainly visible when viewed under loupe, just left of the 3 in the date. A large die break also resides beneath 18 in the date. An underappreciated variety that is rarely encountered in Mint State. This well struck piece has nicely preserved surfaces that are mostly free of toning. (Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22PD, PCGS# 3814, Greysheet# 2888)
