Rare 1964 Special Mint Set Nickel, MS68 Full Steps PCGS
1964 5C SMS MS68 Full Steps PCGS. Unlike the 1965 to 1967 Special Mint Sets, only a small quantity of 1964 Special Mint Sets were produced. Most likely, these sets were made to fine tune the far greater mintages of the 1965 sets. This essentially pristine specimen has rich apricot and steel-blue patina. The luster is more satiny than reflective. The strike is crisp, although Jefferson's cheekbone and jaw lack the pinpoint definition of a regular issue proof.
