Description

Conditionally Rare 1878 Three Dollar, MS67 PCGS

1878 $3 MS67 PCGS. A tremendous example for the date and type, one of the finest Three Dollar Gold Pieces that this cataloger has ever seen. The surfaces are virtually pristine, with only a couple of tiny, trivial abrasions noticed under even the closest scrutiny, and the luster is frosty and as bright as can be. The natural contours of the dies produced a magnificent halo effect with the luster shining at slightly different angles around the head of Liberty, giving this piece wonderful visual appeal. Sharply struck, with only a couple of insignificant areas of isolated weakness noticed after much searching under magnification. Unobtainable any finer, a beautiful example that combines the best of technical merit and aesthetic appeal and a coin that is destined for the finest of type sets or specialized collections. Population: 6 in 67, 0 finer (11/04).(#8000) (Registry values: N7079)
