Outstanding MS64 Full Head 1918/7-S Standing Liberty Quarter
1918/7-S 25C MS64 Full Head NGC. FS-008.5. Since overdate quarters were not discovered until many years after their striking, the few survivors that are known today are usually found in low grades. Uncirculated coins are very scarce and it seems that little effort was made to produce fully struck coins from this die pairing. As a result, high grade Uncirculated pieces with complete head detail are of the highest order of rarity. In fact, no Gem Full Head pieces have been certified by either of the major grading services. Only 11 near-Gems have been graded by the combined staffs of NGC and PCGS (11/02). This is a sparkling example whose surfaces are covered with frosted mint luster and are almost completely free from any traces of color. When closely examined with a magnifier one can see the few small abrasions that prevent this coin from grading a full MS65, but none of these marks are identifiable to the unaided eye.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243A, PCGS# 5727, GSID# 5572)
