Superb Uncirculated 1826 Half Dollar

1826 50C MS67 NGC. O-110, R.2. This important Superb Gem was previously offered as lot 8096 in our New York 2002 Signature Sale, where it was cataloged as: "Curiously, there are a number of high grade survivors known for this variety. The Condition Census is (67, 67, 65, 65, 65). Perhaps this variety was mostly held in banks as bullion reserves rather than entering the channels of commerce. This is an exceptionally pleasing coin that has bright mint frost and a strong strike throughout. The brilliant surfaces allow for full appreciation of the bright mint luster." Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (10/02).
