Description

Frosty, Near-Gem 1837 Classic Head Half Eagle

1837 $5 MS 64 NGC. Large Date, Large 5. Breen-6512. A vibrant, especially frosty example that displays strong definition on all but the highest hair curls. Only a few, light surface marks are noticed here and there. The 1837 is a scarcer issue in Mint State than earlier P-mint Classic Head fives, yet usually brings little or no premium over these more available issues. Population: 5 in 64, none finer (5/00).
