Coveted Choice AU Bar Copper
(1785) COPPER Bar Copper AU55 PCGS. Breen-1145. Originals of this famous Early American issue can be distinguished from the 19th century Bolen copy by the placement of the left upright of the A. The A is over the S on the originals, and beneath the S on John Adams Bolen's well-made copy. A light vertical die crack near the reverse center is another diagnostic for genuine Bar cents. Golden-brown and lilac shades grace this bold example. A couple of small gray obverse spots fail to distract, and a glass is required to locate a few thin and minor marks. Listed on page 69 of the 2007 Guide Book. Population: 13 in 55, 15 finer (10/06).From The Jones Beach Collection.
