Description

Select Mint State 1794 Half Cent

1794 1/2 C MS63 Brown NGC. C-1a, B-1a, R.3. Manley Die State 3.0. A faint die crack is present connecting the tops of the IBE in LIBERTY. The wreath is clashed along Liberty's profile, while Liberty's hair is in turn clashed along the inside of the left portion of the wreath. Recutting on the date and on the first A in AMERICA identifies this popular die marriage. This bold example has a sharp, even strike, and the medium brown patina is consistent. No verdigris is evident, and the minor marks are toned over and difficult to locate. A thin horizontal scratch is noted left of the fraction, and pair of ticks form a faint greater than sign above the jaw. EAC 45.
