Collectible 1839 Large Letters Eagle XF45
1839 $10 Type of 1838, Large Letters XF45 NGC. Although overshadowed by the more elusive 1838, the 1839 Type of 1838 is always in demand as one of only two issues that displays Christian Gobrecht's original design for the Eagle. This second-year issue was produced to the extent of only 25,801 pieces, and most known survivors grade either VF or XF. This still-lustrous example is well struck and has tinges of coppery-red patina about the devices.
