Description
1841-C MS 61 PCGS. Although this date is readily available in circulated condition, it is an extreme rarity in mint state with only 3 pieces certified MS 60 or better by NGC and PCGS. This piece was struck on an imperfect planchet and exhibits obverse planchet flaws around the periphery. The color is orange-gold deepening to reddish-gold in some areas. The strike is quite nice, with softness only on the first through the fourth stars and the thirteenth star on the obverse due to the flawed planchet. All in all, one of the true rarities of the series in mint state. Population: 1 in 61, 2 finer (11/98).
