Description

Select 1799 Small Stars Ten Dollar

1799 Small Stars Obverse MS 63 PCGS. B. 4-E. One of the two "Irregular Date" varieties of the year, this more common die pairing is identified by a longer stem pointing toward the border on the reverse. The frosty green-gold surfaces are notable for the sparkling cartwheel luster exhibited in the fields, the fabric of which is broken only by a number of light, scuffy blemishes and evidence of die clashing. A diagonal mark at the center of the eagle's shield should provide easy identification in the future. Population: 5 in 63, 1 finer (6/99).
