Description
Gem 1810 Large Date, Large 5 Half Eagle
1810 Large Date, Large 5 MS 65 PCGS. B. 1-A, Miller-109, R.2. The most frequently encountered of the four varieties of this date, this is a truly impressive coin and one of the finest examples known. The surfaces have thick mint frost that swirls over each side uninterrupted by abrasions. The green-gold color is slightly accented by reddish patina that is seen peripherally around both obverse and reverse. The striking details leave nothing to be desired on the obverse, but there is a bit of highpoint softness on the reverse which is most apparent on the eagle's neck feathers and feathers just left of the shield. An exceptional early gold type coin. Population: 1 in 65, none are finer (10/98).Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8108, GSID# 8814)
Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
Weight: 8.75 grams
AGW: 0.25789oz
Mintage: 100,200
