Description

Above Average 'Bo' Engraving of His Brother

One of the much sought-after original (Above Average) carvings by George Washington "Bo" Hughes. This is one of several he carved of his brother, who was killed in World War I. All such coins are dated "1919," so we assume that this was the year in which he was killed. Typical Bo techniques are used on the hair, beard, and ear. The field is completely dressed with LIBERTY removed. Another from the Bill Fivaz Collection.
Accompanied by an OHNS certificate.
Ex: OHNS Auction # 12, lot 7.
