Description

Extremely Rare MS 64 1920-S Ten Dollar Indian

1920-S MS 64 PCGS. One of the major rarities in 20th century gold, the 1920-S is rare in all grades, a result of extensive meltings. Coins in MS 64 condition are extremely rare and this is the first we have offered for public sale in at least seven years. As always, there is striking softness noted on the back portion of the headband, the front curve of the eagle's wing, and the trailing leg. The soft, frosted surfaces show several milling marks, the most prominent being a series of three ticks on the obverse rim between 7 and 8 o'clock, plus a short horizontal abrasion on the lower cheek of the Native American. Rich orange-gold color is spread evenly over the surfaces and further enhances the appeal of this modern rarity. Population: 5 in 64, only 2 are finer (10/98).
